Problems with volume dial on my computer?

I have a 2010 Toshiba Satellite L500D with Windows 7, and the volume dial stopped working a week or two ago. I can still control the volume by clicking the icon in the taskbar, but the dial on the front doesn't do anything when i turn it. I made a few changes to my computer's interface, but that was a month ago, long before the dial stopped working. I've had no luck on Toshiba's support site, has anyone else had this problem before?
