Emergency! Did I break my espresso machine?
I need help with this question ASAP!! I'm living with a host family in Italy. They were gone for the weekend, and I tried to make espresso on their espresso machine. I put the grounds in the wand and attached the wand to the machine. I let the machine get ready, and then I flipped the switch. All of a sudden the wand flew out of the machine, spraying hot, wet grounds all over the kitchen. I cleaned up the mess, but I don't have the courage to try the machine again. I have an inkling that I didn't attach the wand tight enough, and that's why it popped out under the pressure of the water/steam. Does anyone have experience with this?? Is the machine history? Please tell me I did not break this family's espresso machine. It would be way too mortifying to admit to them - especially after I just met them. Give me your insight, please!!! Thank you!
